A Guide To Mental Health (India)

What is mental health?

In psychology,Guest Posting mental health includes the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of a particular person. To keep it more simple, mental health is nothing but a level of wellness or well-being.

If a particular group, person, or individual is having a high level of well-being then we can say that he/she is having positive mental health, which is good. Mental health also assists people in determining how they handle stress, react to situations and much more.

Mental health in India:

India is a country where mental health and mental disorders are overlooked. That’s why India is the greatest contributor to the suicidal deaths in the Southeast Asian region.

In India, autism and intellectual disability in childhood, conditions such as depression, anxiety and substance abuse are the most common mental disorders.

Recently I came across a WHO report and I was completely amazed by reading that report. The report revealed that 7.5% of the Indian population suffers from mental illness. The report also revealed that mental illness contributes one-sixth of all the health problems in India.

Hence, it is clear that mental health is one of the major problems in India, especially related to health and psychological issues.

So, what can be done to take India out from the clutches of mental health disorders?

First, we need to reduce the stigma around mental health issues in India. We need to train and educate people about mental health and issues related to it. This should be done at the community and grassroots level.

To do this, we can conduct mental health awareness campaigns from city to city.

Second, the government must create policies and allocate resources in the healthcare sector, especially in the mental health niche. The government can also take active steps in training psychologists and counsellors. Because these are the people who can take India out from the clutches of mental health and illness.
